Permanent - Full Time
Auckland-West
Retail

We are looking for a Retail Development Project Manager to bring together our retail teams, suppliers, property partners and internal service teams to deliver new store set-ups, store optimisation projects and improvements that maximise sales per square metre and support SPCA’s growth strategy.

This is a permanent, full-time role, working on a Monday to Sunday roster. Although this is an Auckland-based role, national travel will be required.

About the role

SPCA is continuing to grow and evolve our Op Shop network, and this role will play a key part in making sure our stores perform at their best.

As Retail Development Project Manager, you’ll lead the delivery of optimisation projects across existing stores, support new shop set-ups and help identify opportunities to improve how our retail spaces work. You’ll take projects from planning through to implementation, getting hands-on with everything from procurement and floor plans to fixtures, fittings and visual merchandising.

Working closely with our Retail leadership team, Property, Finance, Marketing, suppliers and regional teams, you’ll coordinate projects, communicate work plans and make sure everyone is clear on what needs to happen and when.

What you'll lead

You’ll take ownership of retail development and optimisation projects, including:

  • Planning and delivering optimisation projects across existing SPCA Op Shops to maximise sales per square metre.
  • Supporting new store set-ups, from project planning and procurement through to floor plans, fixtures, fittings and visual merchandising.
  • Coordinating suppliers, trades and internal teams to make sure projects are delivered effectively and on time.
  • Working with Regional Managers to communicate project plans, timelines, responsibilities and delegations.
  • Identifying opportunities through lease renewals, relocations, renovations and store improvements to maximise the potential of existing sites.
  • Supporting the Retail leadership team with new retail channels, projects and initiatives that contribute to SPCA’s growth strategy.
  • Developing and improving systems, processes and resources that support consistent store development and optimisation.
  • Working with Property and shared service teams on facilities, repairs, maintenance and supplier relationships.
  • Measuring project outcomes and showcasing the impact of optimisation work on retail sales and fundraising.
  • Capturing learnings and using them to continuously improve SPCA’s approach to store development.

What you'll bring

We’re looking for a practical and commercially minded project professional who enjoys turning plans into action, can build strong relationships and isn’t afraid to get hands-on.

You will have -

  • Experience managing projects from planning through to implementation.
  • Experience in retail, store development, property, facilities, visual merchandising or a similar environment.
  • Strong project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and stakeholders.
  • A practical, hands-on approach and confidence coordinating suppliers, trades and internal teams.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to turn plans into clear actions and deliverables.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of how retail environments can influence sales performance.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills across a range of teams and stakeholders.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities and turn them into practical solutions.
