ABOUT THE ROLE
Every day at SPCA, our Animal Services teams provide care, compassion and a second chance to animals who need it most. From rescue and rehabilitation to rehoming, our teams play an essential role in helping animals on their journey to a better future.

That's why we're looking for passionate people to join our Palmerston North Centre across two casual opportunities:

  • Casual Animal Attendant
  • Casual Customer Service Coordinator

Both roles provide flexible cover during annual leave, sick leave and busy periods and offer the opportunity to make a genuine difference to animals, their owners and our community.

Animal Attendant
A hands-on animal care role focused on the day-to-day wellbeing, rehabilitation and rehoming of animals at our Centre. To find out more about the role, click here to view the position description.

Customer Service Coordinator
A people-focused role supporting customers, volunteers, foster parents and the wider community, while also assisting with animal adoptions, enquiries and Centre operations. To find out more about the role, click here to view the position description

ABOUT YOU
You're compassionate, resilient and passionate about animal welfare. You enjoy working as part of a team, thrive in a hands-on environment and understand that this role can be physically and emotionally demanding, but incredibly rewarding.

What we're looking for

  • Animal handling experience and confidence working with a variety of animals.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with experience working with the community preferred.
  • Physically fit and comfortable performing manual tasks throughout the day.
  • Strong communication, able to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions.
  • Confident working both independently, part of a team and with volunteers.
  • Well organised with good time management and attention to detail.
  • High levels of empathy, resilience and professionalism.
