ABOUT THE ROLE
SPCA is one of New Zealand's most trusted charities, working to improve animal welfare and advocate for animals in need. Every purchase and donation made through our Op Shops helps fund this important work. That's why we're looking for an enthusiastic and community-minded Op Shop Manager to lead our Te Awamutu store and help maximise funds for animals in need.
- Op Shop Manager - SPCA Te Awamutu Op Shop
- Full-Time – 40hrs per week
- Tuesday to Saturday 8:45am to 5:15pm
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the Op Shop, ensuring a clean, welcoming, and well-stocked store.
- Oversee stock collection, sorting, pricing, merchandising, and inventory to drive sales.
- Lead, train, and support a team of volunteers, fostering a positive and productive environment.
- Deliver excellent customer service and ensure volunteers do the same.
- Handle cash, banking, and reporting accurately in line with SPCA procedures.
- Confidently use a computer and internal systems, including email, spreadsheets (e.g. Excel).
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, legal, and SPCA policies.
- Develop in-store promotions and maintain attractive displays to maximise turnover.
- Build relationships with donors, suppliers, and the local community to support the shop and SPCA’s mission.

ABOUT YOU
You're a motivated retail leader who enjoys working with people and creating positive customer experiences. You're organised, commercially minded and passionate about supporting a cause that makes a real difference.
Skills & Experience
- Retail management experience (second-hand retail preferred but not essential).
- Team leadership or volunteer coordination experience.
- Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Confident with cash handling, banking, and financial reporting.
- Well-organised, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Computer-literate, with experience using Microsoft Office.
- Full, clean driver’s licence.
