ABOUT THE ROLE
We have an exciting opportunity in our SPCA Certified team for a SPCA Certified Operations Lead. This is a permanent, full time role where you could base yourself in our National Office in Hobsonville, Auckland or you could work remotely from anywhere in New Zealand.
As part of the SPCA Certified team this position supports SPCA’s mission by driving higher animal welfare outcomes across New Zealand’s farming and companion animal sectors through the effective delivery and growth of the SPCA Certified programme. The Operations Lead will build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with these sectors, promoting the programme and advancing animal welfare consistent with the vision, values and aspirations of SPCA.
Key responsibilities include -
- Oversee day-to-day programme operations: Ensure audits, certifications, reporting and member support is delivered effectively and to a high standard.
- Stakeholder engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with members, partners, industry, auditors, other NGO’s and stakeholders.
- Monitor compliance: Monitor and manage audit reports to ensure consistent, credible and effective delivery of programme standards.
- Support programme growth: Identify opportunities within the agricultural and companion animal sectors that could support the growth of SPCA Certified.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the SPCA Certified National Manager, SPCA Certified team and wider SPCA staff to achieve organization goals.
ABOUT YOU
We are looking for someone who brings:
- Experience: A proven track record in humane farming certification programmes, and an understanding/track record of auditing processes and procedures.
- Qualifications: Relevant qualification in animal welfare and/or agriculture.
- Communication: Excellent relationship management and verbal communication skills, including comfort in presenting to groups.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of the New Zealand agricultural sector, including production systems, supply chains and food retail/hospitality sector.
- Teamwork: Collaborative approach with experience working effectively within a team.
- Personal attributes: Passionate about animal welfare with a strong interest in farmed animal welfare, professional, evidence driven, and self-motivated with strong organisational skills.
- Integrity and Flexibility: Maintains confidentiality, demonstrates initiative, and is adaptable to travel and varied work hours when required.
