ABOUT THE ROLE
SPCA is seeking a dedicated, organised and efficient Administrator to join our National Volunteer and Foster team. Based in the South Island, you’ll work closely with local SPCA Centres on our regional volunteer and foster programmes, ensuring consistency, engagement, and excellence across the volunteer lifecycle.

This hands-on role involves application processing, systems maintenance, reporting, and tracking. You will support the operational work of our centres and ensure our volunteers and foster families have the information, tools, training, and recognition they need to thrive. You will also play a key role in implementing new systems and processes within the SPCA Volunteer programme.

Details:

  • Full-time (40 hours/week), Tuesday – Saturday 8:00am – 5:00pm
  • Fixed-term maternity cover until end of October 2026
  • Hybrid role, with at least two days per week onsite
  • Must be based near a Southern SPCA Centre (Greymouth, Christchurch, Timaru, Dunedin, or Invercargill)

ABOUT YOU
You’re an animal advocate with a passion for animal welfare, care, and education. Our vision, purpose, and values resonate with you, and you love working with both humans and animals.

You will also have:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including presentations and report writing
  • Experience providing feedback and training, both in person and in writing
  • Proven background in customer service and/or animal care
  • Strong technology skills, with the ability to learn new systems and programmes quickly
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to prioritise, multitask, and meet deadlines
  • Resilience, professionalism, and a strong commitment to supporting others
  • Ability to drive consistency and quality across volunteer processes, training, and engagement
