Job Description

About the role

  • Permanent full-time role, 40 hours
  • Rotating shifts Monday- Sunday between the hours of 7.30am- 5.00pm as rostered
  • SPCA Auckland Centre - Mangere
  • Must be able to drive a manual vehicle

Your enthusiasm and dedication will see you:

  • Providing strong and consistent leadership to a committed and well-functioning team
  • Respond to enquiries from members of the public, ensuring all enquiries are handled appropriately and professionally.
  • Triage, coordinate and attend non-inspectorate animal emergencies.
  • Provide animal transport for non-welfare complaint related animals, such as ambulance collection, transportation and transfer of animals, trapping of animals, community desexing and transporting sick, injured and vulnerable animals
  • Assist with administration including but not limited to ShelterBuddy updates, processing of animals, data entry and animal handling.
  • Ensuring a safe and supportive working environment where staff are led to carry out their duties efficiently and effectively
  • Promotes unity by developing and maintaining strong relationships with other departments within the Centre
  • Develop and maintain community relationships and the local reputation of the SPCA brand
  • Proactively managing and embedding a culture of Health & Safety

What we need from you:

  • Proven leadership experience. Experience leading a remote team would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Have excellent communication and customer service skills, be solutions focused with friendly and a positive can-do attitude
  • Have an understanding of animal welfare (animal handling experience or qualification would be advantageous) 
  • Resilience while retaining empathy
  • Have excellent organisational skills and be able to prioritise and effectively manage workloads
  • Have strong administration and computer skills.
