Job Description

About the role

  • Permanent part-time role
  •  Monday - Thursday 8 hours per day normally worked between 8.30am and 5.30pm plus 11 hours every 5th weekend
  • SPCA Centre Christchurch

  • Ensure all animal interventions are performed in a safe and professional manner, ensuring both staff and animals are safe at all times.
  • Work with animal owners to educate them on the well-being and welfare of animals as appropriate.

What we need from you:

  • Be a fully qualified Veterinarian, with current professional registration
  • Have experience in clinical practice
  • Have experience and efficiency in surgical procedures, both routine and non-routine
  • Confidence and experience in handling a wide variety of animals (domestic, un-socialised and wildlife)
  • Be able to prioritise and effectively manage workloads.
  • Have sufficient computer skills; previous experience with Ezyvet software would be an advantage.
  • Have the ability to work in an environment that changes every day, and be passionate about both people and animals.
  • Have the ability to work in a high performance, fast paced environment.
  • Have excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Experience or understanding of Shelter medicine is preferred, but not essential
  • A sound understanding of, and empathy with, the goals and values of the SPCA
