ABOUT THE ROLE
We have an exciting opportunity for a:
- Truck Driver
- Permanent - Part-Time
- Wednesday to Friday 8:45am to 5:15pm
- Based in Dunedin
This role plays a key part in supporting SPCA’s Op Shop operations by safely and efficiently collecting, transporting, and delivering donated goods and furniture between Op Shops, donors, customers, and other SPCA locations.
You’ll be responsible for operating an SPCA truck, handling furniture and other goods with care, providing excellent customer service, and supporting Op Shop operations to ensure donations reach their next home and help fund vital animal welfare work.

ABOUT YOU
You’re a reliable and experienced driver who enjoys physical work, meeting people, and being part of a team with purpose. You take pride in safe driving, great service, and working efficiently, while representing SPCA professionally in the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely collect, transport, and deliver furniture and other donated goods to Op Shops, customers’ homes or businesses, donors, and SPCA locations.
- Load and unload furniture and goods using safe manual handling techniques.
- Assemble or disassemble furniture as required to ensure safe transport.
- Plan efficient daily routes and manage schedules to meet delivery and collection timelines.
- Provide a high standard of customer service, thanking and engaging respectfully with donors, customers, volunteers, and stakeholders.
- Maintain the truck to a professional standard, including cleaning, refuelling, reporting maintenance issues, and coordinating servicing and WOF requirements.
- Complete all required paperwork and administration accurately and on time (e.g. delivery manifests, proof of delivery, compliance documentation).
- Work collaboratively with Op Shop staff and support general Op Shop operations when not scheduled to drive, including assisting with donations and in-store tasks.
- Support and supervise volunteers assisting with truck operations or furniture handling, ensuring safe work practices are followed.
- Comply with all road rules, SPCA policies, and Health & Safety requirements, reporting incidents and hazards promptly.
- Participate in required training, audits, events, and other SPCA activities as directed.
Skills & Experience
- Full, clean Class 1 driver’s licence with experience driving a truck.
- Previous experience in a similar role (e.g. delivery, removals, courier, furniture transport).
- Physically fit and capable of lifting and moving heavy furniture as part of daily work.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to build rapport with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Good time management and route planning skills, with the ability to reprioritise when required.
- Comfortable using basic computer systems (email, online systems, paperwork).
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently while contributing to a team.
