About the role

  • 12 month fixed term contract, full time
  • 40 hours per week between 08.00am and 05.00pm Monday to Friday as rostered
  • SPCA Centre Mangere

SPCA Auckland Mangere centre is seeking a Head Vet for a fixed term of twelve months providing parental leave cover.

In this role, you will be combining clinical leadership and administrative duties in the running of a busy veterinary hospital, ensuring high professional standards of care are provided for all animals presented to, and under the care of, the SPCA.

You will oversee and manage the team of SPCA Veterinarians, supported by the Head Nurse and a large team of qualified Veterinary Nurses, animal attendants and volunteers. You will provide leadership and in-house clinical support, and provide procedural and clinical consultative support for the hospital, centre, and organisation.

What we need from you
Our ideal candidate will have:
· Minimum of 8 years’ clinical experience as a Veterinarian
· Leadership skills; and the drive to be able to inspire, support and drive our Veterinary Team to be the best they can be.
· Experience in clinic/practice management, organising operations, duties, etc.
· Excellent communication skills.
· Confidence and experience in making difficult decisions.
· A sound understanding of, and empathy with, the goals and values of the SPCA
