Our Taupō store plays an important role in the local community and processes a high volume of donated goods through a large backroom operation. It’s a busy, hands-on environment where strong retail systems, organisation and stock flow are key to success.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for a capable and experienced Op Shop Assistant to join our Taupō team in a part-time, sole charge role.
- Sunday – 8.45am to 4.15pm
- Monday – 8.45am to 5.15pm
This is a pivotal retail position, ideal for someone who’s confident running a largish store independently, managing stock from backroom through to the shop floor, and keeping everything flowing smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Work sole charge on rostered days and take full responsibility for running the store
- Manage a large backroom operation, ensuring stock is efficiently sorted, processed and rotated
- Receive, sort, price and merchandise donated goods in line with SPCA guidelines
- Maintain strong visual presentation and stock levels on the shop floor
- Deliver excellent customer service and a positive shopping experience
- Accurately process sales, cash handling and complete end-of-day reconciliation
- Support and guide volunteers when on shift
- Ensure all Health & Safety, security and SPCA procedures are followed
ABOUT YOU
You’re a retail pro who thrives on organisation, efficiency and keeping things running like a well-oiled machine. You’re confident on your own, love getting stuck into stock processing, and feel at home managing a store on your shift.
Skills & Experience
- Strong retail experience is essential (charity retail is a bonus)
- Proven ability to work confidently in sole charge
- Experience in stock processing, backroom management and merchandising
- Organised, proactive and able to prioritise in a busy environment
- Confident with POS systems and cash handling
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Physically fit and able to lift and move stock as required
- Reliable and adaptable, with a genuine passion for what SPCA does
