About the role
We have an exciting opportunity at our SPCA Invercargill Centre for a:

  • Customer Service Coordinator
  • Permanent - Part-Time
  • 20 hours per week - Days negotiable but must be available weekends.

As a Customer Service Coordinator, you’ll be the friendly face and voice of SPCA! Providing exceptional service to customers, volunteers, fosterers, and the public in person, over the phone, and online. You’ll ensure the smooth operation of the customer service area, support adoptions, and coordinate volunteer and foster networks to help ensure animals in our care receive the best possible outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to visitors, fosterers, volunteers, and the community
  • Answer calls, emails, and messages promptly with accurate, helpful information
  • Process animal adoptions and guide potential adopters through the process
  • Support the recruitment, coordination, and retention of fosterers and volunteers
  • Maintain accurate records and data entry using SPCA systems
  • Assist with administrative tasks, scanning, and documentation
  • Support daily operations of the Centre and uphold SPCA standards of care
  • Ensure tidy and welcoming reception and customer areas
  • Contribute to events, campaigns, and community engagement initiatives
  • Promote health and safety and adhere to all SPCA policies and procedures

About you
You’ll be a compassionate and organised team player who thrives in a busy, people-focused environment. You’ll take pride in providing excellent service and will be comfortable balancing multiple priorities with empathy and professionalism.

You will have:

  • Proven experience in a customer service role, ideally in an animal-related or community organisation
  • Experience managing volunteers, including recruitment, training, and support
  • Experience or demonstrated skills in animal care, behaviour, or welfare (preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer literacy and administrative accuracy
  • Great interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and foster collaboration
  • Exceptional organisation and multitasking ability
  • Professionalism, integrity, and empathy when working with the public
  • Resilience and the ability to manage emotionally challenging situations
