The SPCA helps protect over 30,000 animals every year. By rescuing, rehabilitating, sheltering and advocating for animals, we directly improve their lives. Our Animal Services teams run our 28 Centres across Aotearoa and are essential to the work we do.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We have an exciting opportunity at our SPCA Tauranga Centre for a:
- Animal Attendant
- Casual
- Casual Hours as required to cover leave, busy periods, and weekends
This is a rewarding and hands-on role where you’ll see both the challenges and the rewards of animal welfare work. You’ll be responsible for ensuring animals receive the highest standard of care, supporting adoption processes, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with veterinary visits.
You’ll also work with staff and volunteers to enhance animal wellbeing, supporting enrichment, behaviour modification, and community adoption outcomes
ABOUT YOU
You’re an animal advocate who thrives in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment. You bring empathy, resilience, and a love for both animals and people.
You’ll also have:
- Experience in animal handling and care
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- The ability to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers
- Strong organisational and multitasking ability
- A positive and compassionate approach to every interaction
