ABOUT THE ROLE
We have an exciting opportunity to join our SPCA Mangere Centre as a:

• Veterinary Nurse
• Permanent – Full Time
• Monday to Friday 40hrs per week

Our Mangere Centre is a busy hub for animal care, and you’ll be joining a close-knit team committed to giving animals their best chance. You’ll have access to ongoing development opportunities and the chance to make a real difference every day.

ABOUT YOU
You’re a fully qualified vet nurse with experience in clinical practice and a genuine passion for animal welfare. You’re calm under pressure, confident in your nursing skills, and ready to help provide a high standard of care for animals in need.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality vet nursing care to animals under SPCA's care
• Support SPCA veterinarians with treatments, anaesthetics, and surgical procedures
• Monitor animal health and wellbeing, maintaining accurate clinical records
• Prepare surgical environments and maintain best practices in hygiene and safety
• Support foster carers and volunteers with animal-related guidance
• Help implement enrichment plans and shelter medicine practices
• Promote and support SPCA values, policies, and animal welfare initiatives

Skills & Experience

• Fully qualified vet nurse with experience in clinical practice
• Strong knowledge of animal handling, welfare, and veterinary procedures
• Ability to manage emotional situations and make sound decisions under pressure
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and clinical record-keeping systems
• Full, clean NZ driver’s licence
