ABOUT THE ROLE
We have an exciting opportunity for a Community Support Officer based at our SPCA Greymouth Centre, working Tuesday to Saturday 9:00am-3:30pm.

In this vital role, you will serve as a visible presence for SPCA in the community, responding to inquiries and representing our mission to improve animal welfare. You’ll coordinate and attend to non-inspectorate animal emergencies, assist with transporting animals, and manage various community outreach services. Additionally, you’ll handle administrative tasks related to animal data entry, processing, and shelter updates, ensuring the highest standards of care and efficiency.

What you’ll do:

  • Respond professionally to public inquiries, maintaining a visible and positive presence for SPCA.
  • Coordinate and attend non-inspectorate animal emergencies, ensuring animals are handled appropriately.
  • Provide animal transport for non-welfare complaint related animals, including collections and transfers.
  • Assist with animal trapping, community desexing, and handling sick, injured, and vulnerable animals.
  • Perform various administrative duties, including updating ShelterBuddy, processing animals, and data entry.
  • Uphold SPCA’s values and standards, ensuring professionalism and empathy in all interactions.

ABOUT YOU

Your strong animal handling experience and dedication to animal welfare will be key in making a difference in the lives of animals and people in the community.

What you’ll bring:

  • A minimum qualification of current Auxiliary Officer License pursuant to Section 125(1) of the Animal Welfare Act 1999, or willingness to obtain it.
  • Proven experience in animal welfare, animal handling, or a related field.
  • A full, clean driver’s license with the ability to drive manual vehicles.
  • Experience with larger vehicles such as vans and utes, and confidence towing/reversing trailers (desirable).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role and adapt to varying workloads.
