ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a passionate Senior Animal Attendant - Feline and Vet Nurse to join our team at the Invercargill SPCA Centre. This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week between 08.00am and 05.00pm Monday to Friday as rostered. What you'll do:
- Provide strong and consistent guidance to a committed animal care team.
- Develop and implement care plans for feline and small animals, ensuring the highest standards of treatment.
- Perform animal interventions safely and professionally, prioritizing the well-being of both staff and animals.
- Educate animal owners on proper care and welfare as appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with legal obligations, guidelines, protocols, and policies.
- Monitor animal health, behavior, administer medication, and promote socialization and enrichment.
- Assist in preparing the surgical environment, including instruments and drapes.

ABOUT YOU
You are an animal welfare advocate who thrives in a busy environment and has a deep passion for animal care. With excellent communication skills, the ability to work under pressure, and experience in animal handling and basic care, you will be an essential part of our team.
What you’ll bring:
- An experienced and qualified veterinary nurse with proven clinical skills.
- Have practical animal-handling experience and knowledge, and experience in behaviour and basic care.
- Be a self-motivated team member, who is empathetic and passionate about animal welfare.
- Have excellent data-entry & computer skills including Microsoft Office.
- Can positively work in a fast-paced environment and must have a love for working with both people and animals.
- Be a quick thinker who is skilled at multi-tasking and able to prioritise and effectively manage workloads.
- Ability to manage stress and handle emotional situations while retaining empathy.
- Full, current New Zealand driver’s licence.
