Job Description

 

Introduction

SPCA is one of the best loved and most respected charities in New Zealand, with a proud history of helping animals in need and advocating for animal welfare since 1872. 

About the role

  • Fixed term, from early January 2025 until end of March 2025
  • Days and Hours: Tuesday to Friday - 30hours per week
  • SPCA Howick Op Shop

Your enthusiasm and dedication will see you:

  • Have excellent communication and customer skills, be solutions focussed with friendly positive can do attitude.
  • Natural leadership skills that focuses on and values the team.
  • Be responsible for the leadership of our dedicated volunteer team, customer service and daily retail operations.
  • Have proven ability to recruit, train and manage volunteers.
  • Be comfortable using social media to engage and interact with local community.
  • Be a self-motivated team player, who is enthusiastic and passionate about animal welfare.
  • Have the ability to accept and process donations in a timely manner.
  • Ensure stock quality and pricing aligns with the National Guide.
  • Have the ability to visual merchandise and present a retail shop to a high standard with the customer experience paramount in decision making.

What we need from you:

  • A minimum of 2 years retail leadership experience.
  • Preloved, vintage and second hand fashion retail experience would be an advantage.
  • Hands on experience with visual merchandising and the ability to present a retail shop to a high standard.
  • Have excellent communication, interpersonal skills and customer service skills.
  • Have experience working with volunteers.
  • Have excellent administration and organisation skills, and strong time management.
  • Strong administration, computer skills- MS Office and POS.
